The holidays are closing in fast, and it's time for cold weather, warm food, and family. From our family dentistry office to your home, we wish you happy holidays.

This time of year is notoriously fraught with tempting foods that make us worry about our smiles. Sugary drinks and food abound as we spend time with family and enjoy the best time of year.

Enjoying the holidays doesn't mean giving up on everything that you love to eat; you can have all your holiday fun and take care of your teeth too.

Here are some holiday tips for keeping your smile bright and healthy throughout the holidays and into the new year.

Keep Brushing Your Teeth

Ensure that you don't slack on your oral care routine. That includes brushing at least twice a day and flossing once. Consider brushing your teeth as soon as you can after having sugary and acidic foods and drinks to reduce the time it spends clinging to your teeth and reduces your chances of gum disease.

Moderation Is Key

For your overall health, as well as your oral health, enjoy your holidays in moderation. Don't focus on the sugar. Make sure to eat a varied diet high in vitamins and minerals to help strengthen and protect your teeth.

Stay Hydrated

Water is essential for every part of a happy and healthy body, and the mouth is no exception. Staying hydrated helps your mouth keep itself clean by washing away debris, helping to fight the formation of bacteria, and keeping your mouth working optimally.

Check-In With Your Dentist

Have you had your two annual check-ups? There is no time like the present to check it off your list.

Bring your family too! Our focus in pediatric dentistry allows us to see patients of all ages.

Visiting the dentist will give you essential feedback on your oral health, preparing you to make better choices during the holidays. In addition, Dental Care of Huntsville is happily accepting new patients. Reach out to our Hunstville dentist office today!
